Lakeside Academy’s curriculum follows closely the Florida Sunshine State Standards in reading, math, writing, science and social studies.
The ability to read is the foundation for all learning, therefore, 180 minutes of instructional time is dedicated daily to reading. The school implements several research-based programs for basic instruction and interventions for the slower learners. Scott Foresman Reading, Soar to Success, Saxon Phonics, Saxon Phonics Interventions, Reading Counts, ReadAbout, and Essential Learning Systems as well as FCAT Explorer are just some of the learning tools in use by our students.
Math is taught using Saxon Math, a multi-sensory program. In all areas, such as writing, science, and social studies, the Academy provides what are generally recognized to be the best learning resources necessary to provide a solid core curriculum.
All classrooms are equipped with computers, and a 20-station state-of-the-art Computer Lab is wired for high speed Internet access..
The lab is dedicated to programs that provide extensive reading instruction and test preparation.
